Baton Rouge “Red Nose” Day May 9, 2008

Posted by forsalebylindsay @ 11:37 AM, Friday Apr 11th, 2008

So, when I say “red nose” what do you think of? Maybe, Rudolph the red nose reindeer? What else? Mmm, maybe someone that has a bad cold! Kachoo! Or, what about a happy clown? Don’t most clowns have red noses? Speaking of red noses, guess what is just around the corner? You guess it! The Baton Rouge “Red Nose” Day! What is this red nose thing you speak of?

Well, “Red Nose Day” is a day set aside for everyone to come out and support the children. It’s actually a foundation that was started by McCains Children’s Developmental Center. It’s basically a fundraiser to support all of the services that the McCains Children’s Developmental Center provides. It will be a day devoted to fun and laughter.

Did you know that over 100 companies and schools volunteer for “Red Nose Day” last year? They volunteered by going to this fun day and by buying t-shirts, teddy bears, neckties, red noses and more. They raised over $38,000. Wow! Isn’t that awesome? Do you want to sponsor “Red Nose Day”? Sponsorships are available for levels of $1000, $2500 and $5000. If you are a sponsor, your logo will go on all of the “Red Nose Day” items mentioned above.

Where and when is the “Red Nose Day”?This fundraiser will be held at a special event downtown during the Life at Five celebration. It will be at the Galvez Plaza on North Blvd. Come and join the fun! There will be raffle ticket drawings for great prizes. Get ready for May 9th, put on your red nose and go downtown and support our children.

Baton Rouge Newspapers! Grab a good read.

Posted by forsalebylindsay @ 11:21 AM, Friday Apr 11th, 2008

Do you love reading the Baton Rouge newspaper, The Advocate? If you’re like me, you might like to read anything you can get your hands on. I might possibly be classified as the “Barnes & Noble Nerd”. Hey, I am proud of that. You probably know that The Advocate isn’t the only newspaper floating around. There are actually several magazines and newspapers that Baton Rouge offers. They seem to have a newspaper/magazine for everything. One of my favorite magazines is the Baton Rouge Parents Magazine. It is loaded with some really neat and valuable information. I also love the InRegistermagazine. I just subscribed to this one and love it. It basically informs you on what’s going on in Baton Rouge. I also love their ‘neighborhood’ features. Each month they feature a unique neighborhood in and around Louisiana. It’s really entertaining to read. If you are interested in what newspapers & magazines Baton Rouge has to offer, please visit Baton Rouge Newspapers & Magazines.

Baton Rouge “Earth Day” April 20, 2008

Posted by forsalebylindsay @ 11:04 AM, Friday Apr 11th, 2008

Yesterday, I did something different. I went to Whole Foods.I’ve been there before but I’ve never really bought anything. Mostly I would just go with a friend to eat lunch. Well, yesterday I did the unthinkable and tackled it. I was amazed by all of the items to purchase. I was like a kid in a candy store. It can be pretty overwhelming. You’re probably wondering why I am telling you this. Well, I am on my way to making my life a little greener. I want to start buying eco-friendly products and do my share.

There are so many things you can do in Baton Rouge to recycle and help the earth. In about a week, Baton Rouge is going to host a fabulous “Earth Day“. I’m so excited about it. Let’s go green together! Going green can be overwhelming at first but you should really start with baby steps. This is what I am doing. I am hoping to slowly progress into full green! I have written intense blogs on Baton Rouge’s Earth Day and also on what you can do to recycle and be a part of going green in Baton Rouge. They are full of valuable information that you might be looking for. If you are interested please visit the following links. Have a beautiful day!blue-plastic-recycling-box-against-green-background.gif
